📋 Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Power Off & Remove Bottom Screws

  1. Turn off your iPhone completely. Go to Settings > General > Shut Down or press and hold the side button + volume button until the slider appears.

  2. Locate the two pentalobe screws next to the Lightning port at the bottom of the device.

  3. Using the pentalobe screwdriver, carefully remove both screws.

  4. Place the screws in a safe tray – they are tiny and easy to lose.

⚠️ Note: Keep the screws organized. The bottom screws are slightly longer than others.

Step 2: Apply Heat & Open the Display

  1. Use a heat gun or a hair dryer on medium heat to warm the edges of the screen for about 2–3 minutes. Focus on the bottom and left edges. This softens the adhesive that seals the screen.

  2. Place a suction cup near the bottom edge (just above the home button area or the lower corner).

  3. Gently pull the suction cup to create a small gap between the screen and the frame.

  4. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap to prevent the screen from closing back.

  5. Slide the pick along the edges to gradually separate the adhesive. Use additional picks to keep the gap open.

⚠️ Warning: Do not insert the pick too deep – you might damage internal flex cables. Insert only about 3–4 mm.

Step 3: Detach the Display Cables

  1. Open the screen like a book, lifting it from the left side (the side with the flex cables). Do not pull it all the way open – the cables are still attached.

  2. Locate the battery connector on the logic board. Use a spudger to gently pry it up and disconnect the battery. This is the most important safety step.

  3. Now locate the display flex cables (usually 2 or 3 small ribbon cables near the top of the logic board).

  4. Use the spudger to carefully unclip each flex cable by gently lifting the connector's edge. They should click and release.

  5. Once all cables are disconnected, the screen is completely free. Remove it and set it aside.

⚠️ Warning: Always disconnect the battery before touching any other flex cable. This prevents shorts and damage.

Step 4: Remove the Old Screen & Clean the Frame

  1. Gently peel the old screen away from the frame. It should come off easily since the adhesive is already softened.

  2. Use a spudger or a plastic pick to remove any remaining adhesive strips from the edges of the iPhone frame.

  3. Clean the frame with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Remove all dust, glue residue, and fingerprints.

  4. Make sure the frame is perfectly clean and dry before installing the new screen.

💡 Tip: A clean frame ensures a perfect seal for the new adhesive and protects against dust or moisture entering the device.

Step 5: Install the New DD Hard OLED Screen

  1. Take your new DD Hard OLED screen out of its packaging. Handle it by the edges – avoid touching the exposed flex cables or the back of the display.

  2. Carefully connect the display flex cables to the logic board. Press each connector firmly until you hear or feel a click. They should sit flush.

  3. Reconnect the battery connector by pressing it down gently until it clicks into place.

  4. Power on the device to test the new screen before sealing it:

    • Check for touch response across the entire screen.

    • Verify colors, brightness, and True Tone (if available).

    • Test the front camera and sensors (proximity, ambient light).

    • Make sure there are no dead pixels or flickering.

⚠️ Important: If the screen does not work, disconnect the battery and re‑check the flex cable connections. Do not proceed to sealing if the screen has issues – it's easier to troubleshoot now.

Step 6: Seal & Close

  1. Once you confirm everything works, disconnect the battery again.

  2. Apply the new adhesive strips that came with your replacement screen. Carefully align them around the frame of the phone – follow the original adhesive path.

  3. Remove the protective film from the adhesive.

  4. Carefully place the new screen onto the frame. Align the top first, then gently lower the rest of the screen.

  5. Press firmly around the edges of the screen to seal the adhesive. You should feel a slight resistance as the adhesive bonds.

  6. Reinsert the two bottom pentalobe screws and tighten them securely.

  7. Perform a final power‑on test to ensure everything is still working after sealing.

✅ Final Checklist

  • Screen powers on and shows clear image

  • Touch sensitivity works on all areas

  • Front camera and sensors function

  • No gaps between screen and frame

  • All screws are tightened
